Frequently Asked Questions

CHECKING IN WITH ISRAIR AIRLINES AT JFK
I’ve never seen Israir in New York – where will I find you?
Israir Airlines departs and arrives from Terminal 4 at JFK International Airport in New York. We can be found in the center of this terminal. Signs for ISRAIR Airlines appear on all road signs at JFK leading to the terminal as well as on the Airtrain. PREMIUM CLASS passengers will find a separate check-in facility and line in the terminal.

How long before my flight do I need to be at the airport?
For a rapid and stress-free check-in we strongly recommend arriving 4 hours before your scheduled departure.
Economy Class passengers must arrive at the airport a minimum of 3 hours (180 minutes) before scheduled flight departure time.
Premium Class passengers must arrive at the airport a minimum of 2 hours (120 minutes) before scheduled flight departure time.
Our counters open 4 hours before the scheduled departure and close 1 ¼ hours (75 minutes) before departure.

My ticket didn’t arrive - what do I do?
DON’T PANIC!!! Israir Airlines doesn’t send tickets to its passengers in the USA. We operate on an e-confirmation system in which you will receive upon request via email or FAX a confirmation of your itinerary. When arriving at JFK please proceed to our ticket desk conveniently located by our check-in counters. Here you will be asked to present your valid passport (non Israeli citizens must make sure that your passport is valid for at least 6 months after your date of entry to Israel). Upon presentation of such you will receive your round-trip ticket and proceed with security and check-in procedures. This is the same line you will be standing in even if you had received your ticket!

I’m a picky eater - are you able to help?
While we don’t offer a full-service restaurant on board, Israir Airlines offers strictly kosher meals on all flights between New York and Tel Aviv. If you have special requirements beyond this (Vegetarian, Children, Fruit, Special Kosher/Regal, etc.) please make sure you contact Israir Reservations (open 9:00 am-6:00 pm EDT Sunday-Friday) at least 36 hours before your scheduled departure or send an email to meals@israirusa.com along with your reservation number and the name of the person desiring the meal.

My favorite seat is 24D - how can I be certain to get this?
We’ll do our best to help you but can’t promise. At present, Israir Airlines offers no advanced seat selection in the Economy Class cabin. We do our utmost to seat families together (provided that they were booked together) and when not assigned accordingly our staff will do the utmost to change seats to accommodate you. To be certain to receive your preferred seat (even if not 24D) please arrive at the airport as suggested above.
Premium Class passengers can reserve their seat at the time of ticket purchase with Israir reservations.

Do I need to reconfirm my flight in Tel Aviv?
While you don’t need to reconfirm your flight we recommend that you do call to verify that there has been no schedule change to your flight. We also request that you give us a local contact in Israel so we would be able to contact you in the event of an unexpected schedule change affecting your return trip.

My aunt and uncle asked me to bring some gifts for the kids but I don’t know if I have enough room, can I bring more than one suitcase?
Adults and children irregardless of what you paid for the ticket are allowed to check the following baggage from New York and from Tel Aviv (to New York). Two pieces each measuring no more than 62" (Length+Height+Width) [157cm] both weighing a combined total of no more than 110 pounds. Excess weight is charged at $12 per Kg.(2.2 Lbs). Bulky baggage pieces exceeding the above dimensions, regardless of weight, will be charged an additional flat rate of $100 each. In case you don’t have one with you, a measuring tape will be handy at the check-in counters.

OK, so can I carry the gifts?
Of course you can as long as it meets the size restrictions set forth - One piece with total dimensions of 115cm (Length+Height+Width) or 45", weighing no more than 8 Kgs. (about 18 lbs). Hand-baggage shall be weighed and tagged at check-in. Untagged baggage discovered at the gate, shall be tagged and separated for belly loading. NOTE: A flat rate charge of $30 per piece shall be applied to any hand-baggage that is not tagged (evidencing it was not presented at the check-in counters for weighing). The exception to this rule is a lap-top computer, personal pocketbook and Duty-Free purchases. Also, please note that the TSA (Transportation and Safety Administration) prohibits the carriage of lighters in checked OR hand-luggage). Please make sure these are left at home (or they will be confiscated).

I’m going to try to make it all fit, but if I don’t have enough room, what should I do?
A third piece of checked baggage will be charged a flat rate of $100. The third piece is defined as the lightest of the 3 pieces.

Can I send my kids alone on Israir?
