Tel Aviv is an inviting, hip and action packed city whose residents really know how to live well. This compact and delightful city offers plenty to see and do, and everything is within easy access. A Tel Aviv hotel is a great place to stay whilst exploring this city of contrasts: From the chic cafes of uptown Yehuda Hamaccabi Street, to the all night clubs and bars of Alenbi Street; from the Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center, to street theater at Dizengoff Square. In addition, historic Old Jaffa can be reached by foot or by short taxi ride from the main Tel Aviv hotel area. There are also great shopping opportunities, including fashions, arts and crafts and souvenirs.
Tel Aviv’s Four and Five Star Hotels
Tel Aviv’s four and five star hotels are located at two main locations: The majority of hotels are situated along the northern beachfront promenade, and many rooms offer views of the Mediterranean and the old city of Jaffa. Café lined Dizengoff Street and Dizengoff shopping center, are both within a short walking distance of all the hotels in this area. Between April and October, the beach is buzzing with activity. Rent a deck chair and suntan in comfort, or enjoy a spot of people watching from one of the lively beach front cafes. For those who want some water-sport action, there are windsurfing and wave surfing opportunities. Just ask at your hotel for details. Alternatively, blend in with the locals by playing Matkot- a kind of uncompetitive form of squash with two players hitting a black rubber ball backwards and forwards, with the aid of large, table tennis shaped bats.
The other five star hotels in Tel Aviv are located near the southern end of the beachfront promenade; close to the Carmel Market and the financial district, and within a short walking distance from Jaffa. There is an extremely vibrant feel to this part of the city, which includes Neve Zedek - Tel Aviv’s first neighborhood. Nevertheless, the area still retains the charm and feel of the early days of the Jewish state. There are plenty of great restaurants in the vicinity of the hotels and one of Tel Aviv’s liveliest nightlife scenes is a short walk away.
One of the great pleasures of staying at a four or five star hotel in Tel Aviv is breakfast: Fresh salads, breads, eggs cooked to order, freshly squeezed fruit juice, and more. Make the most of it and you can keep going until late lunchtime. But if you are a late riser, and happen to miss breakfast, grab a freshly squeezed fruit shake or a pastry on one of the many eateries that can be found along all the major streets in central Tel Aviv.
Alternatives to Hotels
For a holiday with a difference, try one try one of the Boutique hotels in Tel Aviv, located a short walk from the beachfront promenade. Boutique hotels are smaller and more intimate, and often uniquely designed and furnished. They are particularly suited for couples and singles. An alternative for families are the apartment hotels. These are basically hotel rooms that include a kitchen for self catering. Some of the Tel Aviv apartment hotels also offer breakfast. There are a number of apartment hotels on Dizengoff Street and on Herbert Samuel Street - overlooking the beachfront promenade. If you are traveling on a tight budget, stay at one of the hostels on Dizengoff and Ben-Yehuda Street.
Tel Aviv hotels serve as a great base from which to explore this delightful city. Take your pick, bring your sunglasses and suntan lotion and prepare for a holiday in the sunshine with a difference.
